Excellent point. Just like, Facebook "Likes", website "hits" and Klout scores - Twitter followers are just a number.

There are many reasons that an individual may wish to join Twitter, however, if businesses and professionals are merely playing a numbers game, then they are wasting valuable time which would be better spent on more productive (and ultimately more profitable endeavours).

When I was new to Twitter, I had certainly wasted a lot of time adding my profile to various lists and dutifully following-back new followers without a moment's hesitation.

Thankfully, now I'm more casual about my use of Twitter; and find it all the more useful because of that.

A thoughtful post as usual Thierry, I am now off to Google Independents Day - sounds great and an ideal PR idea for any retailers who need a bit of help! Helen

we have enought supermarkets between slough and maidenhead and we dont need another tescos. there are tescos express locally in burnham and there a big tesco exrta in slough. we need something better. ie like resturants somewhere to dine out. if we have another tescos on the bath road . it would cause chaos on the A4. and causes mores pollution!!

I have missed the last 2 meeting because l was away on both dates can you please tell me when there will be another one. l am really interested in going and meeting other protesters.

Also l understand that once the Bishop Center shops have closed they are building a car park for the Olympics???? This will mean cars and buses, as no one will what to walk to Dorney.

So those of us who live in the area have no chance of getting out of our roads....it is bad enough from April to Nov when they have the car boot sale going on.

Have the Council really done a Feasibility study in this area???

Also l understand that there is a Council meeting to agree this so why is it that everyone is under the impression that it has already been excepted and passed?

The local celebrity I would think of is Sir Terry Wogan whose house actually overlooks the whole area, he may be worth approaching

We live in the cottages on Bath Road with a rear entrance and garage on Hag Hill Lane. We dread the change to a food outlet.

The traffic is bad enough now, so it will only increase. We have lived here for 43 years and although don't mind change we do object to what appe a 'done deal'

Surely planners, councillors can see what an impact this will have on the local area.

\hsppy to help in any way I can

For anyone reading this and thinking "surely not", Thierry, is recounting the kind of issues that are an everyday challenge when dealing with big retailers.

It is something that I've worked with for years and you need to know what your doing.
